EVYS

Last year i was in a orchestra called EVYS (east valley youth symphony). well this year i auditioned for it again an made it! Unfortunally i made it in the lowest level which is filled wth kids from the ages of 8-12. I had really wanted to get in the more advanced level but because i didnt practice all summer i Failed.
My mom says i will just have to be a man and live with it until winter comes and i can audition to move up. I really hope i do because i really want to be with all my friends who moved up.

los Alamos, New Mexico

While our parents were in Europe we decided to go visit our cousins in New Mexico. The ride up there was long and a little boring but i managed to survive without saying "are we there yet" like my brother and sister. when we arrived it seemed as if no one was home but as we walked through the front door we were greeted by everyone and were given the grand tour.

Their house was a small condo with 3 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. i really loved their back yard. despite the hot and dry climate their backyard was all green. Plants, trees, grass, even some of those plants that hang from the ceiling. Also they even had a giant tree house that our aunt and her dad had built together.

The next morning our uncle surprised us with blueberry pancakes. i was the only kid out of 6 who actually enjoyed them. After breakfast we headed toward a campsite up in the mountains by their house. the rest of the day was spent riding bikes and hiking. The next day we had pancakes for breakfast but we forgot the syrup so we used jam instead. After that we went back to the house ate lunch then went hiking up to a water fall.

The hike up was really easy and only took about 20 min walking. The end though was amazing. not one, not two, but 6 waterfalls that all took my breath away.

After playing in the river for a while we dryied off and headed to the house. We had hot dogs for lunch and ate them outside on the patio. After eating we played in the backyard and talked. because most of the equipment in the backyard was for little kids mostly just talked with the adults.

That night we ate a wonderful homemade pizza. we got to put whatever we wanted on it. For desert we had amazing homemade bread. I found out that they gave mom a book a while ago with all of their bread recipes in it.

That night while most of the others went back to the campsite i stayed at their house and slept in a nice soft bed. The nest morning we had pie for breakfast and just talked waiting for the others to arrive from the campsite.

Later that day grandpa hall took me t a nuclear museum that was all about the atomic bomb. it was really interesting and i learned a lot about the history of the town. We spent most of the day their and came home to grilled chicken wings.

That night we all camped in their living room and ate ice cream while watching alice in wonderland.

The next morning We ate bagle sandwiches and got all packed up. we then all said our good byes and piled into the car we then drove 12 hours back to grandmas house and went to sleep immediatly.

This trip was so much fun and i hope that i get to see my cousins there again soon.

The Zion Encampment

This summer i am going to the Zion Encampment with some of my friends. Camp Zion is a boyscout camp that we go to every 4 years. I am really excited about this year because they are releasing 4 merit badges that have been retired for over 50 years. This is a once in a lifetime chance to get these merit badges.

At camp Zion there are two awards that you can get, the Ironman award and the Man of Valor. our goal is to get them both. If everyone in my troop gets this award then our leaders get an award too. The award is a very nice belt with the camp symbol on it or a very nice money clip with the camp symbol on it.

Our leaders told us that this will be an experience that we will never forget. i cant wait to go to camp Zion i know that it will be a blast

honors

at the beginning of the school year i was in all honors. because of my problem with homework i had a f by the end of the first quarter in English. my English teacher told me at the end of the first quarter that i would not be in honors English when i got back to school. After a while i got used to my class and had a good time in there.
About a week ago i found out that the honors English test was coming up so i got a form filled out everything. unfortunately i forgot to have my parents sign it saying that they will allow me to take the test until the due date, today. by the time i realized this i was already at school. as usual i stayed after school with some of my friends when it hit me. my parents would have to pick me up, when they do i could have them sign it and go turn it in. when my homework was done i called my dad and had him pick me up. when he got here he signed it and i turned it in. Now all i have to do is hope for the best and wait for the test tommorow.

i'll save the money for therapy

last night my orchestra had a concert at Campoverde high school. we all had a lot of fun and the concert was amazing. when it was our turn to play we got up on stage and played conquistador, The Gypsy Rover, and Saturday at the Symphony. when we finished we thought nobody could be better than us (thought of course our string teachers spies were everywhere). but when we heard the high school orchestra play two thoughts went u in my head 1 wow they are amazing. and 2 i wonder what kind of beans they put in their burritos (inside joke ) :). soon after i heard the i-cant-remember-the-name-so-I'll-just-call-it-the-rock orchestra. they were amazing i mean they had drums, electric guitars, keyboards, electric violas, and electric violins.after the concert was over i went running ( i really mean walking her spies were still everywhere) to my parents and asked them if i could have an electric viola and join them when i get into highschool. my parents said two things 1 the rock orchestra sounded awful, and 2 electirc violas cost a lot of money plus you can hardly hear them. well now all of my hopes and dreams are crushed :(.
